ANNE TROOPER

NOVELIST & SHORT STORY WRITER

Anne Trooper grew up on the Jersey shore, and she’s been running away ever since. She hitch-hiked across ten countries, moved to Oregon without knowing anyone—not recommended—then to Seattle, where she may have illegally borrowed a car—also not recommended—and moved up to the San Juan Islands. She found she enjoyed writing about isolation more than living it, so she moved back east and went to Goddard College, where she was invited to complete her undergraduate degree in the MFA program.

Anne’s fiction has appeared in Southwest Review, The Normal School, The Tusculum Review, PRISM international, and elsewhere. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and shortlisted twice for the Fish Publishing Short Story Prize. She has been awarded fellowships to the Summer Literary Seminars and The Vermont Studio Center.

Anne is currently finishing up a thriller-esque literary novel that takes place in Ireland and New England, as well as a collection of short stories set on an island in the Pacific Northwest. She lives in Vermont with her husband, Bartholdi, who cries at the end of all her stories, so he might not be a reliable first reader. After raising four children, including twins, Anne and Bartholdi couldn’t stop caring for vulnerable creatures and adopted a big Münsterdoodle puppy. Don’t bother googling Münsterdoodle; you’ll just get doodles of monsters.
